The Solar Decathlon is a biennial competition of college and universities from around the world who design and build energy efficient concept homes on the National Mall in Washington D.C. HardiePlank™ lap siding made an appearance this year on a portion of the home constructed by students from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). It marked the first appearance in the competition by the school, whose team finished 13th.
