Washington Cottage Community Enjoys Proximity to New Town Center![]()
Woodside Walk embraces the new thinking for a successful, resident-friendly community: smaller lot size (approximately 2,100 square feet), with higher quality materials and design in place of a big box mentality. Gone, too, is the need to hop into the car for every errand and grocery store run. That's because the newly transformed Mill Creek Town Center is just a short stroll away, with everything from a coffee house and fitness center to Mexican food and a bookstoretruly putting the "walk" into Woodside Walk. Plans are also circulating that would add a 90-foot long art installation and a 3-foot seating wall along the sidewalk, further appealing to pedestrians and shoppers. The TND-style neighborhood, located fifteen miles north of Seattle, offers nine home designs ranging in size from 1,313 to 1,855 square feet. When completed, the neighborhood plan will consist of four different quadrants, each with its own community green and park area. To the west, a 7.5-acre natural protected growth area and adjacent trail system further open things up for residents. The popular McCollum and Martha Lake parks are also nearby.
A total of 89 units will be built at Woodside Walk, including 20 townhome-style attached residences. All feature upgraded amenities, such as hardwood floors in the kitchen and powder room, granite tile countertops, and energy-efficient Milgard® windows. The homes also use thoughtful design touches that include dramatic loft spaces, decorative front entry doors to maximize light, landscaped front and back yards, and front porches. Over half of the floorplans will use alley-loaded garages, further highlighting the pedestrian orientation of the neighborhood. All home exteriors in Woodside Walk use HardiePlank lap siding in conjunction with various accent features. Developer Lozier at Woodside, LLC chose the James Hardie product because of its durability and paintability, according to VP of Design Paul Burckhard. "The colors that we are using on the project are pretty rich and fairly substantial," he says. He also prefers the HardiePlank material because "it doesn’t have some of the issues of the composite products" that have been on the market. ![]()
Lozier actively uses the James Hardie exterior as a selling point at Woodside Walk, Burckhard says, and the reception from buyers has been great. "The buyers seem to appreciate the fact that it's going to be a fairly long-lasting, and fairly low maintenance kind of product," he says. Woodside Walk is approximately fifty percent complete, with work on the third of four phases now underway. Homes are priced from the mid-$400's.
