''Why I Love My Hardie Home!'' James Hardie® Launches Video Contest Grand Prize Wins Three Months of Mortgage Payments*
Mission Viejo, CA - August 31, 2009 - James Hardie Building Products, Inc. (NYSE:JHX), the leading provider of exterior home siding in the U.S., launched a contest today encouraging "Hardie Home" owners to show off their James Hardie siding on YouTube and complete the statement, "I love my Hardie Home because..."
"The idea grew from the company's participation in social media," said Prashant Panchal, James Hardie's Head of Marketing. "Fans of our product often send us unsolicited photos—as a show of pride—so we thought a contest combining our customers' love of their Hardie Homes with our foray into social media would be a great way to reward that kind of product loyalty."
There are three steps to entering the "Why I Love My Hardie Home!" Video Contest:
1) Create a home video (up to three minutes) showing the front facing exterior of the home—displaying the James Hardie siding—and complete the statement "I love my Hardie home because…"
2) Upload the video entry to your account on www.youtube.com between August 31, 2009 12:00 a.m. PT and October 26, 2009 11:59 p.m. PT.
3) Go to www.MyHardieHome.com and fill out the online Official Contest Entry Form. The completed Form must be received within 2 (two) hours of uploading the video to the YouTube Web site.
"The communities that have formed around services such as Facebook and YouTube bring the product and the customer together like never before," said Lynette Rogers, Marketing Manager. "It's opened up new ways to build relationships, say 'thank you,' and help our customers spread the word about James Hardie products."
The contest is open only to legal residents of the United States; void in Puerto Rico and where prohibited. Must be at least 21 (twenty-one) years old. Subject to Official Contest Rules, found at http://myhardiehome.com/officialrules/.
